Any stream qualifies for LLB. CEC/HEC students have natural GK and analytical advantages that judiciary exams heavily test. Read newspapers — especially Supreme Court / High Court judgment summaries — from Class 11. History, Political Science, and Economics backgrounds are advantageous.

From Year 1, build knowledge of CPC, CrPC, Evidence Act, IPC, Contract Act, Transfer of Property Act. Judiciary preparation starts during LLB — join a judiciary study circle from Year 2. Most toppers study 4-6 hours of law daily alongside their LLB degree.
Entry exam: CLAT for NLUs | AILET for NLU Delhi | DU LLB for 3-year route

AIBE (Bar Enrolment) + PCS-J Preparation

After LLB, enrol with State Bar Council (AIBE). Then focus on state Judicial Services (PCS-J): Prelim → Mains → Interview. Average preparation: 1-3 years. Some states require prior advocacy (1-3 years) for HJS — check state rules.
HJS (Higher Judicial Services) for District Judge posts requires 7+ years of advocacy experience. Track: Civil Judge → Senior Civil Judge → ADJ → District Judge → High Court Judge.
