MPC students who qualify IMU-CET (Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test) or DNS (Diploma in Nautical Science) entrance can join the Merchant Navy as Marine Engineers or Deck Officers after Class 12. This path involves working on cargo ships sailing internationally — salaries range from ₹4–8 LPA as a junior officer to ₹25–50 LPA for Chief Engineers and Captains. It is physically demanding with long months at sea, but offers high pay, tax-free income while at sea, and the opportunity to see the world.
